Assemble me. Rev up your day!
The Ugears Engine Clock brings together mechanical engineering and automotive design in a fully functional wooden timepiece. Styled like a classic engine, this unique DIY model features moving pistons, a pendulum mechanism and a time display inspired by dashboard gauges - making it as captivating to watch as it is to build.
Powered by a wind-up mechanism, the clock runs for up to 5 hours on a single winding (with extended runtime possible when the pistons are disengaged). The rhythmic motion of the pendulum and escapement produces a satisfying ticking sound, while the seconds are displayed on the escapement at the rear. A retrograde minute hand adds an extra layer of mechanical interest, resetting automatically every 60 minutes.
Designed at a medium difficulty level, the Engine Clock offers an accessible yet rewarding build for hobbyists and DIY enthusiasts. Like all Ugears models, it is assembled from precision laser-cut wooden pieces without the need for glue or special tools. The kit includes step-by-step illustrated instructions, along with sandpaper and wax to ensure smooth operation of all moving parts.
The clock can be wound using the ignition-style key at the front, and time can be easily set and adjusted. Fine-tuning is possible via the pendulum, allowing you to improve accuracy by making small adjustments.
Compact, stylish and full of character, the Engine Clock makes a standout display piece for any desk, shelf or workspace. It’s an ideal gift for car enthusiasts, builders, tinkerers and anyone who appreciates clever mechanical design - offering both a satisfying build experience and a functional, conversation-starting timepiece.
